Tee ball

For the last few weeks at sport we have been learning about tee ball with Siaose.

What is tee ball?

Tee ball is a sport that you can play it involves batting running fielding and catching. The equitment that you need is a tea bases bat and small ball. The ame of the game is to get as many runs as possible.

What is a batters job

The batters job is to hit the ball so say the ball is on the tea you have to hit the ball and we have had the privilege to have three strikes. Once the batters has had his shot he or she runs to the first base if the person has a long enough shot they could run to base two, three, four or even get a home run. If someone is on base four and your batting its a good idea that you don't hit it to close to the tee because even thought your in the same teams it seems like you trying to get them out. The reason for that is because the person on the forth base will start running and someone from the other team will get the ball and put it on the tee. So that's a little tip.

What is a feilders job

A feilders job is to catch the ball or throw the ball at the base that someone is running to. Their ame is to get as many people out as possible by these two things I talked about. The mane thing is to work as  a team. Otherwise you probably know how much bad luck you have.

Shellfish day :)

It is finally hear shell fish day first I had to pack I brought water, hat, sunscreen, spear change of clothes and some gumboots.
But When I was about to leave I got a terrible feeling was I meant to where my mufti to school or was I meant to where my school close to school.but I left with my mufti on. Every body going had their mufti on two so was a big relief.

Then we were of we Lind up on the court miss Kidd talked about what we were going to do and made shore we had everything.

Off to the bus after a while We finally got out of the bus and I walked to the kawakawabay park from the car park.

From there we got informed of where we were going to do and what we were going to use and how to use it. So we got into our group Milan Ruby aria and me and went off.

When we got there we went to our flag and out Lind the quadrate and dug it up then we put it in the quadrate and started to shake it and we got all dirty. but it would not work so one of us had to go right out to the sea it was about 350m away and we had to walk to the sea fill up our bucket and walk back with the full bucket. Then we counted and meshed the cockles then we tallied them To see if there was enough. the same thing happened the next four things but the last one had sink mud and lots of people got stuck but I didn't.

Then I looked for crabs for awhile. Then I walked back and I sore my dad. When I got back there was only Milan there so we played until every body got back then we got back onto the bus and left to go back to school where we got back and went home.

What it is like in E- learning

In e- learning it is really loud every day. Every one listens to each other and helps each other. In our class we show Passion, Respect, Diversity, Empathy and Integrity. Every one is friends in class. Every one is so happy together. But some people don't charge there I- pad at home. So they have to charge it here. Next we week we will be going to KawaKawa bay beach to look at shells like cockle, pipi, horn shell and nut shell. On the second week of team one we read a book about a boy with an invisible bucket on his head, so we all made one.

Shellfish monitoring

On Monday the 25th of march, Clevedon school, kauri team lined up on the top court ready to line up on the bus with our friends. We were all dressed up in appropriate mufti all knowing we would get dirty, our bags were full of hats, sunblock, water bottles and spare clothing, Mrs Kidd talked to us for a while and then we set of on the bus ride there. Me and my friends sat in the back. Once we arrived this lady called Sophie gave us an educational talk and then we set of into our groups. In my group was Cooper, Miranda, Dominic and me. Our instructor thing was mrs king (coopers nan).

First we walked all the way around to the actual kawakawa bay beach, it was huge! When we got to were we had to be we realised we had to do all the even number of H's. It took us a long time to find H2. When we did we chose our responsibilities for the first one. I was the measurer, cooper was the sieve shaker, Dominic was the water pourer, Miranda got the water and mrs king recorder.

HOW TO DO IT

1. Place the sieve in the ground and trace the shovel around it
2. Dig out the square with the shovel and put the sand and shellfish in the sieve
3.pour the water on top and shake
4. All the shellfish (and what ever else) will appear
5.pick up the cockle and give them to the measurer and record the size

Our first one wasn't the best because it was most far away from the sea/ocean
Our last one was the best! We got 77 cockles! Then we set back down and collected the bags, had a little fun with crabs and my mum drove me back to the site and we had lunch and a play and then set back of to school

Today was really fun and I learnt to things today, you find whelk shells in groups or among dead shells and harbour top shells move and leave trails in the ground!

Shellfish monitoring

On Monday the 25 2013 the kauri team went shellfish monitoring we went on a long bus ride to kawakawa-bay when we got there we had morning tea then they put us in groups then we walked half way around the bay to our flag we were IOL1/3/5/7 (letter I odd numbers on the left on number 1-3-5-7 flags). We put the quadrat on the ground and out lined it then we dug 3 inches down in the square then we got water in the bucket and poured it in the quadrat to sive out all the sand and left the shells in the quadrat. If we found any alive shellfish we counted them but we only measured the cockles at the end we got stuck in mud that was half of meter deep ;(
We walked about 1km back to the park and had lunch and went back to school in the bus when we got to school we played a game for half an hour then we went home it was FUN! ;) ;) ;}

Portfolio Covers

This week room7 has been designing their own creative cover for their portfolio, we need to show our name, self portrait (drawn by ourselves), age, room, our team, and also our houses, Tui, Kaka, Weka and Kiwi. At the bottom of our cover we must put our favourite quote. Here is a pic of my portfolio cover... :-)

T-ball practice with Siaose

On wednesday room 7 did sport with Siaose. We learnt all about hitting the ball in t-ball. We were put into pairs of 2 or 3. Then we each got a cone, a ball and a bat and places the ball on the cone and practiced hitting it with a fielder and a backstop. We were promised a game but we ran out of time so we were promised a game first thing next week. Siaose's arm is also in a cast after an accident but he still taught us about t-ball. Yay!

Te Reo Maori

Today in room seven we had Te  Reo Maori  with Whaea Annie we learnt about how to say what countries we came from and animal names. We also learnt how to start a speech and how to tell them your name , mums and dads name and then say thank you for listening soon. We will be able to do it off by heart.
