Zeus, Hera, and Little Io (An Ancient Greek Myth)

 One day Zeus was bored and went out onto earth where he found io a little water nymph sitting near a lake. Then Hera came down. 

  

So Zeus turned io into a cow because Hera always got jealous when Zeus was around other women.

Then Hera asked Zeus if Hera could have the cow as a present, so Zeus sadly agreed so Hera wasn't suspicious.

Zeus knew he had to get io back and release her. When Hera found out about the cow getting away she sent a gadfly after her. (A gadfly is a horrible insect that bites cows)

 

The gadfly found her and io swan across the sea trying to lose it but the gadfly hung on. A sad io then travelled to Egypt. Hera thought she had suffered enough so made Zeus promise never to see io again.  Then she left io in Egypt. But Egypt was a horrible place for io because she is a water nymph and there is crocodiles in the Nile... Back at Olympus, Zeus was still really bored. Surely there must be something he could do.

The Visiting teachers

For the last week and a half there have been teachers from lots of different schools coming in to see how our class ( which is an e-learning ) class works. There have been some really cool teachers who have also showed us some things to. The teachers normally ask us how it works and they get some ideas of they are going to do in the future!

I hope we get some more teachers coming in soon!

The visitors

This week last week and next week and the week after that I think we have some teachers from other schools coming in to have a look at our class and miss bakers because we are an e-learning class of course.  So every day of the week for four weeks we have visitors from a lot of schools.  It was really hard keeping focused with a lot of people staring at you.

Anansi The Spider ( Why The Spider Has Eight Very Skinny Legs)

Anansi was a spider, he lived with his wife.
Anansi's wife was a very good cook, but most of the time he wanted to try  his neighbours food.

One day Anansi goes to Rabbit's house, Rabbit offers him food. "I would love to, but I must get going". Anansi knows that if he stays rabbit will make him help clean up.
Anansi suggests that if he ties a web to one of his legs and to the pot, and when the food is ready, Rabbit will pull on the web, Rabbit thought the idea was wonderful.

Anansi goes to Monkey next, Mokey asks Anansi to stay for food, again he says that he must leave, but suggests that he tie a web to his leg and to the pot. Monkey thought the idea was great.

Next Anansi goes to his friend Hog, Hog invited Anansi to dinner, but again Anansi says he must go, he suggest that he tie a web to his leg and to the pot. Hog loved the idea.

Theseus and the minotaur

Aeons ago there was a prince called Theseus across the sea in Athens. There was a problem in Athens though, because King Minos always challenged the Athenian king to war.

Later the Athenian king made a deal with King Minos that every 9 years, 7 Athenian girls and 7 Athenian boys would be sent to be eaten by the brutal beast, the minotaur.

The Athenians waited 9 years and then the prince went with the other 13 children to get eaten by the minotaur.

Then when the prince got to King Minos's kingdom he met the princess who made a deal with him.

After the princess helped Theseus to slay the horrible beast, the minotaur, Prince Theseus let the princess sail with him.

In the end Theseus took the princess and they stopped to get supplies and she fell asleep. The people on that island soon fell in love with her beauty, so the prince left her on that island to be admired .

dance trials

Today at school we had senior dance trials. It started off doing some jump jam songs and then some people had to leave. Then other people got their names written down and now Miss Evans and Mrs O'Donnell are trying to decide who should be in the dance group.
